Okay, so recently I decided to go back to Twitter! Not because I like the platform, because I sure don’t, but because most of the VTubbing community lives there and, since VTuber models are my main source of money, I was losing a lot of clients for not being there.
So there I was, throwing spaghetti, yakisoba, and mac and cheese against the wall to see what sticks. And nothing was sticking! (God damn this unnaturally nonstick wall!!)
One day, I was doing some experimentation with my art style, specifically for VTubers. And then I thought, I need to draw some VTubers anyway, so why not make a post on Twitter to see if someone interacts with it? And so I did!

I wanted to do more or less 3 VTubers, and initially I didn’t have anyone commenting there, so I left to go to the gym (your girl is trying to be healthy again yippie), and when I came back…. There weren’t a lot of people yet lol.
BUT THEN the next day I woke up to a shit ton of comments, follows, likes, and questionable DM’s. Even after I commented on my own post that I wasn’t going to draw anymore, people still commented with their adorable VTuber models!
I did expect to get some good engagement, but I did not expect to be that much lol. Of course, I didn’t blow up to the stars, but I’ve finally had some good engagement, and that is helping me grow this email newsletter! Which, by the way, is one of my main objectives right now.
I’m not a social media guru, but if you need to test something art-related, letting people show their characters and drawing a couple of them might be a good idea! You not only get some practice drawing different characters, but you also make someone’s day a lot better! And as a bonus, you’ll probably get some shares as well.
I always do this whenever I’m trying a new type of commission! Like my first three PNGtubers were completely free! But they helped me get some better samples on my vgen and actually drive more eyes to my work, because when you draw other people’s characters for free, most people want to share it! (crazy, right?)
I don’t want to convince you to do anything, I just want to share what I’m trying and testing for myself, and what is working (or not) for me!
Social media success doesn’t mean art business success, but it definitely helps to get more commissions or sell more products if you do it right.
I plan on doing more posts like this in the future (but next time I’ll make sure to add how many characters I’m drawing lol), and I also want to test doing raffles for my commissions!
But until then, I think that’s everything for today, friend!
