Okay, so this past week has been CHAOS. And I was this close to entering burnout (again) but I am fine! Like really I am okay now.
Sometimes the best thing you can do when feeling like goblin shit is to take a step back, rest and then think about what’s really the problem.
Recently I’ve started to journal! Not those pretty and decorated journals, my journal is ugly as heck. It’s messy, ugly, and sometimes even I can’t read my own writing. But it’s a place where I can put everything that’s fogging my brain. I just write whatever is in my mind and I can’t express how much it is helping me to understand myself. Highly recommend!
What I’ve been working on:
so much stuff. Like really I’m taking a step back and taking some time to plan things properly.
Also here’s a little sunflower I made to test something. Yes it is based on a Ghibli background and no I don’t know how to paint sunflowers 😂🌻
Here is something cool I found this week:
These two Proko videos are INSANE. They are simple, well-explained, and easy to apply. I really want to study more figure drawing this year and I’ll probably devour this channel's content.
And this book: Show your work!
It’s a less than 2 hours read that changed how I feel about social media. It’s amazing.
Quest updates!
Growing on Instagram
Anything Meta touches is extremely buggy. Do not trust. Double save everything elsewhere! Including wips, captions, or anything else. I lost 3 posts this week just because the scheduling tool glitched and had to re-write some of them.
After reading “Show your work“ I have a new perspective on Instagram. Instead of trying to create perfectly written captions, full of keywords and shit I want to tell stories! And really to just show my work! (go read that book!!)
I’m trying to write as if I was showing something to a friend. Just being the excited nerd I am really.
I have no idea if this will work but I have never been so excited about this before!
Growing on Pinterest (new quest?)
So I don’t know why I didn’t think about this before, but many of the artists I love today I met their work on Pinterest! So I decided to try to use the Pinterest business again and redirect some traffic to my newsletter, my IG account, and my sticker shop.
Right now the posts get a good amount of views but not a lot of clicks and even fewer outbound clicks. But I believe this will only go with time. It’s too early to draw conclusions.
I’ll keep you updated on how this is going!
I think that’s everything for today! Thank you for reading this, and for being with me in this weird adventure. I hope to see you next week!
From your weird art friend,
Puffy
Ps: if you liked this post, could you share it with that cool friend of yours who also loves art? thanks!
